Science & Business Savvy Intersect at The Human Innovation Institute

The Human Innovation Institute is a groundbreaking new initiative connecting companies and business leaders with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), fostering a mutually beneficial, collaborative environment.

Connect With Experts in Ergonomics & Human Movement

By partnering with HII, companies have an opportunity to engage with our scientific and industry experts in a consulting capacity, providing invaluable insights for product development and testing.

HII facilitates product design through an equity, inclusion, and diversity lens, ensuring a comprehensive perspective. Businesses partnering with HII not only accelerate their test and run phases but also enter a specialized industry niche — encompassing fields like medical devices, footwear, apparel, fitness applications, technology, epidemiology, population movement, security, and identity recognition.

Our Mission & Model

HII’s model and mission are informed by the leadership of Dr. Von Homer, who has extensive experience translating academic expertise into practical product development solutions.

Bridging the gap between academic exploration and real-world impact, HII strategically connects companies to HBCUs to create business opportunities for footwear manufacturers, apparel producers, and medical device makers by providing information to empower human-centric design approaches. To produce this information, HII utilizes HBCU subject matter experts, guides patenting strategies, and identifies areas for commercialization.
